"Before Never" The potential for irreversible movement. (Polystyrene, resin, fiberglass, pigment) 2022. Vagonu hall, Riga.
The complicated interplay between human perception and the possibility of irreversible movement is powerfully expressed in things. These objects show how human decision-making is frequently defined by a sense of irreversibility through the dismantling of machinery. A metaphor for the ways in which our decisions can have a significant and long-lasting impact on the world around us is provided by the act of disassembling these mechanisms and rearranging the components in novel ways. The items themselves become representations of the possibility of change and the finality of that change.
This notion of irreversibility also affects the viewer's perception of the things. The physical potential for movement contained within the artwork is revealed to the audience as they approach it.
